The Madhya Pradesh Government has taken several key initiatives towards the future of the textile & garment industry. Some of these initiatives include:

• The government has formulated a comprehensive textile policy to promote the growth and development of the textile industry in the state. The government also offers special package to textile and garment sector to facilitate the growth of the industry, such as providing subsidies for capital investment, interest rate subsidies, skill development, employment generation subsidies etc. These policy measures aim to attract investments and create a favourable business environment for textile and garment manufacturers.
• The government has established textile, apparel and readymade garment parks in Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur to provide infrastructure and other facilities to manufacturers. These parks offer plug-and-play facilities, common infrastructure, and access to markets, enabling businesses to set up and operate smoothly.
• The government offers additional incentives for skill development of employees to enhance the skills of the workforce in the garment industry. This aims to train workers in various aspects of textile manufacturing, such as weaving, dyeing, printing, and garment making.
• Madhya Pradesh is one of the 7 states in India wherein the "PM Mitra Park" has been sanctioned. MPIDC is developing the PM Mitra Park in Dhar district in an area over 1500 acres with state of art modern facilities, world class infrastructure. Investors taking up land in the park will be provided special incentive package including power tariff @ 4.50/unit, water charges @ 25/KL etc.
• GoMP offers competitive financial incentives and subsidies to facilitate the adoption of advanced technologies in the textile industry.
• The government has encouraged textile manufacturers to adopt modern technologies such as Zero Liquid Discharge and machinery to improve productivity and quality.
• The government has actively promoted textile exports from the state by organizing trade fairs, exhibitions, and buyer-seller meets. It has also established MP Export Promotion Council and provided assistance to textile exporters to encourage exports and expand market reach.
• The government has focused on the development of textile ecosystem to promote collaboration and synergy among textile manufacturers. This provides a platform for sharing knowledge, resources, and best practices, leading to improved efficiency and competitiveness.
• The government has invested in the development of infrastructure, such as roads, power supply, and water facilities, to support the growth of the textile industry. This infrastructure development helps in reducing logistics costs and improving the overall business environment.
• MPIDC has implemented online land booking facility for allotment of land in all industrial areas through its single window system “Invest Portal” (http://invest.mp.gov.in/).
• The GIS-based INVEST portal is a one-stop repository of information related to all industrial sectors – connectivity, infra, natural resources, vacant plots, activity details and contact details. Currently this portal caters to 46 services related to 12 departments.
• State Government is taking power distribution license for Industrial Areas from MP Electricity Regulatory Commission to improve the business competitiveness of the state by reducing the cost of power.

• One of the most famous textile crafts in MP is Chanderi, a small town located in the Ashoknagar district. Chanderi fabric is known for its sheer texture, lightweight, and intricate designs. It is traditionally woven with a mix of silk and cotton yarn, creating a unique blend that gives it a distinct appeal. Chanderi sarees and suits are highly sought after and are considered a symbol of elegance and grace.
• Another prominent textile craft in MP is Maheshwari, which originated in the town of Maheshwar in the Khargone district. Maheshwari fabric is characterized by its distinctive motifs, including stripes, checks, and floral patterns. The fabric is woven using a combination of silk and cotton, resulting in a lightweight and lustrous textile. Maheshwari sarees are known for their vibrant colours and intricate designs and is historically known for being one of the best cotton and silk produce.
• Apart from Chanderi and Maheshwari, MP is also known for its tribal textiles. The state is home to several tribal communities, each with its own unique weaving techniques and designs. The Bhil, Gond, and Baiga tribes are particularly renowned for their intricate embroidery work and vibrant textiles. These tribal textiles often feature geometric patterns, nature-inspired motifs, and bold colours, reflecting the tribal communities' connection to their natural surroundings.

• Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Bhopal, Chhindwara, Burhanpur, Dhar, Khargone, Khandwa and Gwalior are major textile centres.
