Mr. Shireesh is the Chief Business
Officer and President of Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), a
first-of-its-kind initiative globally to democratize e-commerce in India.
Shireesh
Joshi is an accomplished business strategy professional with over 25+ years of
experience in marketing, strategy, business
transformation, expansion, and operations. He is Chief
Business Officer & President at Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC).
In his current role, he spearheads the aspirational project of ONDC to create
the largest interoperable open network in a bid to break e-commerce monopolies
and create a more democratized digital marketplace by bringing micro, small,
and medium enterprise as well as small traders, online.
An
IIT Kanpur and IIM Bangalore alumnus, Mr. Shireesh started his career as a
Brand Manager in Taiwan and gradually emerged as a trusted expert and executed
several senior leadership portfolios in Pepsico International, Bharti Airtel,
and Godrej. He has been credited with
managing large-scale business operations/strategy in India, and China including
Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Asian territories. He is also
a notable emerging Asian market expert with hands-on experience in various
industries including but not limited to FMCG, Telecom,
Appliances, Retail, Properties, Furniture, Security solutions, Agri products,
B2B, Premium beauty care, Automation, etc.
During
his tenure at Godrej as COO of Strategic Marketing Group,
he delivered diverse projects across design, strategy, sales, and marketing for
group businesses – Consumer Appliances, Food retail, B2B interiors, etc. to
shape CRM, GoToMarket, Product Portfolio, Brand and communication strategies.
Mr. Shireesh also established a master brand program to drive the measured
brand value of the Godrej brand covering products as well as organization and
CSR. Resolved business complexity and ensured group-wide alignment in a federal
family-owned conglomerate. Introduced business objectives to corporate brand
campaign across the complex portfolio to drive division revenue and share
including marketing leadership in some segments along with measured brand
stature improvement. Also, he established a groupwide capability and digital
transformation program for B2C/B2B marketing and sales subjects for all levels
from new joiners to CEOs and across countries. New content is created and
institutionalised via e-learning.
Mr. Shireesh Joshi has been an
important asset for BHARTI AIRTEL LIMITED, SOUTH ASIA where at first, he worked
as Director Marketing Airtel Center – Sales and Marketing Head and articulated
Airtel Brand relaunch strategy including identity change, selected agency, and
initiated the project. Established need for a mobile brand shift to youth,
launching a turnaround campaign. Established a strong DTH brand registering a
record brand score and catapulting Airtel to No.2 within the first year.
Ignited ‘data’ brand for Telemedia through ‘Impatience’ campaign and strategic
tie-up during IPL Developed and rolled out analytics systems, content forum,
and innovation process/training for marketing. Later on, in the same
organization, Mr. Shireesh worked as Director of Marketing Mobile Services –
Sales and Marketing Head where he created/deployed monthly/quarterly sales and
marketing plans for stretching targets in the hyper-competitive market.
Established annual sales incentive plans and S&D efficiency programs. Led
marketing and sales acceleration plans for Q3, and Q4 especially value erosion
saving revenue of over Rs.600cr. Developed and executed segmented strategies to
spur data growth from 16% to 35% including a new approach. Developed business
strategies for new streams – mCommerce, mHealth, e-comm including setting up
teams. Led AOP strategy planning and recommendation for 2011-12 including key
shifts. His tenure at BHARTI AIRTEL LIMITED, SOUTH ASIA concluded as a Director
of Strategic Projects – Lead multifunctional Business Development where he
established a vision for a new advertising revenue stream and Airtel’s online
business and developed strategy and roadmap for both. Established team, goals,
and work plan for the online team – top strategic company project.
During his early career, Mr. Shireesh
successfully handled a variety of duties at PROCTER & GAMBLE. He managed a
number of projects as Brand Manager for Mediker Anti-Lice Treatment, Laundry
and Cleaning Products, Vidal Sassoon, Head & Shoulders, Marketing Manager
for Hair Care - Multifunctional Business Team Team Head, and finally, after a
successful tenure as Brand Manager, Mr. Shireesh Joshi completed his tenure at
the company as said goodbye to the company as Marketing Director, Health Care,
Australasia/ASEAN/India - Multifunctional Business Team Head.
Besides his remarkable professional
accomplishments, Mr. Shireesh was also the Founder & CEO of Priism
Consulting, partnering with leading clients and consulting them on key projects like
